Recruiting patients for Stem Cell Collection via Leukapheresis

MaxWell Clinic is recruiting a committed cohort of patients to participate in this groundbreaking study.

The purpose of this study is to collect Hematopoietic (meaning “from the blood”) Stem Cells (HSCs) specifically from young (20-25 years old) and older (60-80 years old) healthy subjects. These HSCs will be cryopreserved and used as needed for experiments.

What is Leukapheresis?

Leukapheresis is a standard form of apheresis that harvests a patient’s white blood cells from their bloodstream by means of a specialized apheresis machine.  Leukapheresis is a long-time approved method to harvest blood cells for T Cell therapies. During leukapheresis, blood is withdrawn from a patient through a needle or catheter, similar to the process of donating blood. The blood is then circulated through a machine called a leukapheresis device. This device uses centrifugation or filtration techniques to separate the blood into its various components, including red blood cells, plasma, platelets, and white blood cells.

The leukapheresis machine selectively removes white blood cells from the blood sample while returning the other blood components back to the patient. The collected white blood cells can be used for various purposes, such as medical research, immunotherapy, or the treatment of certain diseases. This procedure is safe and performed in hospitals across the world.

About

This clinical trial is funded by a groundbreaking Silicon Valley-based longevity and healthy aging biotech company. They have chosen to partner with MaxWell Clinic as we are leaders in the assessment and intervention of complex chronic diseases as well as in applying cutting-edge science to clinical care.

Participant Benefits

There is no cost to participate in this study.  The study sponsor will cover the cost of all medications required for the study, the cost of the leukapheresis procedure and any labs required to participate in the study.  Participants will be reimbursed $100 per Neupogen shot given and an additional $1,000 for undergoing the leukapheresis process to compensate the participant for undergoing the procedure.  A participant completing the study will receive no more than $1,500 for participation.

Through participation, you will also contribute to the advancement of human knowledge and the development of life-improving therapeutics!
